Aston Business School is one of Europe’s leading business schools, with 78% of its research rated world-leading or internationally excellent by REF 2014. It is accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. The Accounting Department has a strong reputation for rigorous and relevant research. Among others, the Department has a long tradition in management accounting and control research and co-hosts the annual Management Accounting Research Group (MARG) Conference. In addition we research in accountability and governance, in particular in the not-for-profit and public sectors. We are seeking to further strengthen these areas, but also wish to develop the area of accounting education, as we believe this will enhance the various BSc, MSc and MBA programs we offer and participate in. We support participation in international conferences, supervision of PhDs via Dean’s or ESRC scholarships, and networking opportunities with businesses and professions. Other research support includes funded opportunities to host prominent visiting scholars, seed corn funding for research projects and excellent support for research grant applications.
We seek an inspirational and motivated thought leader to contribute to the Department’s research, teaching and the wider community. Applicants should demonstrate a passion for their subject and be able to communicate that passion effectively to the academic and wider communities, and have a completed PhD in Accounting or a cognate discipline. We are seeking candidates who can strengthen and extend our existing research and teaching profile. Candidates must be able to demonstrate world-leading, impactful research output and have a highly cited publication record in leading accounting and related journals. Further, they must have significant experience in leading externally funded research projects, mentoring junior faculty, membership of editorial boards of academic journals and doctoral/postdoctoral research supervision.
Currently the Accounting Department at Aston Business School has 23 full-time/part-time members of staff. For further information, see here: http://www.aston.ac.uk/aston-business-school/research/departments/accoun…
