Head of HR

The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) seeks a highly motivated and qualified Head of HR as of March 2020 or as per agreement.

IOB is an international research institute combining basic and clinical research. Its mission is to drive innovations in understanding vision and its diseases and to develop new therapies for vision loss. Your position

As our Head of HR, you will be responsible for the further development, implementa-tion and improvement of HR processes and instruments for IOB.

You will be in charge of HR tasks such as:

  • Assisting the recruitment of an excellent, international workforce by:
  • Establishing a recruiting program in collaboration with the directors and group leaders
  • Advising on candidate selection
  • Performing contract negotiation and set-up (incl. work permits)
  • Advising on social insurance and relocation-related issues
  • Establishing job requirements and job descriptions for standard positions
  • Running, maintaining and improving on-boarding, transfer and off-boarding processes
  • Keeping past and current human resource records
  • Developing and communicating HR policies
  • Supporting the directors in the yearly performance and wage reviews
  • Counseling and supporting employees and group leaders

Your profile

  • Diploma as HR Specialist or similar academic background
  • Long-term experience in international HR management
  • Additional experience in educating and coaching staff is a plus
  • Aptitude to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff members
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, both in German and English
  • Highly independent and organized personality
  • Competency in common IT applications incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
